Privacy Policy

Effective 26 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Baseline Drivers Ltd. ("we," "us") collects through the Baseline Drivers platform, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it.

We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and the oversight of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

1 Who we are

Baseline Drivers Ltd., 131 Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria, operates the Baseline Drivers platform and is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2 Scope of this policy

This policy covers the Baseline Drivers website and platform, used by drivers looking for work and employers looking for drivers across Nigeria. It does not cover third-party sites you reach by following a link from Baseline Drivers — for example, a job listing "Found on" another job board, or Paystack's own checkout page, each of which has its own privacy practices.

3 Information we collect

3.1 Account information

Your email address, password (stored in encrypted/hashed form, never in plain text), and account role (driver or employer).

3.2 Driver profile information

If you sign up as a driver: your name, photograph, phone number, base location and state of origin, transmission capability, years of experience, age, marital status, accommodation and late-finish preferences, and availability status. Your phone number is kept separate from the rest of your profile and is only shown to an employer after they complete a contact unlock for you.

3.3 Verification information

If you submit a National Identification Number (NIN) or driver's license for verification, we (or an identity-verification provider acting on our behalf) process that number to confirm the credential and record a verified/failed status — we do not publish the number itself. If you submit a Spy Police (police clearance) credential, the document is stored in restricted, access-controlled storage and reviewed by a member of our team before a badge is granted.

3.4 Guarantor information

If you add a guarantor, we collect that person's full name, phone number, relationship to you, NIN, and a photograph, along with a timestamped confirmation that the liability warning shown on the guarantor form was presented and accepted at submission. This information is provided by you, about someone else, and you are responsible for having that person's agreement before you submit it — see Section 4 of our Terms of Service. A guarantor's NIN is recorded as declared and is not run through an automated verification check the way a driver's own NIN is. Guarantor details are never shown to employers or made searchable — only the number of guarantors on a driver's profile is visible — but may be reviewed by us or disclosed to an employer or law enforcement if a claim is made against the driver.

3.5 Employer information

If you sign up as an employer: your company name (or your own name, for individual/ household employers), contact name, phone number, and tier. We also keep a record of the searches you run, drivers you shortlist, and contacts you unlock, so those tools work across sessions.

3.6 Payment information

Payments for unlock packages and Driver Premium are handled by Paystack, our payment processor. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a transaction reference, not your card number or banking credentials.

3.7 Communications

If you don't turn them off, we send drivers WhatsApp messages about matching job alerts, using the phone number on your profile. We also send account-related emails (such as confirming your signup) through our email delivery provider.

3.8 Usage information

We keep operational logs of activity such as searches, applications, and notification delivery status, and basic technical information (like IP address) used to secure the platform against abuse — for example, to rate-limit repeated automated requests to public pages.

4 How we use your information

  • To create and run your account, and show your profile or listings to the right people;
  • To compute a match score between driver profiles and job criteria, to help employers and drivers find a relevant fit faster — this supports your own decision, it does not make a hiring decision for you;
  • To verify identity and credential information you submit;
  • To process payments and manage unlock packages and subscriptions;
  • To send WhatsApp job alerts and account-related emails;
  • To secure the platform, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service;
  • To respond to your questions and support requests.

6 Who we share information with

  • Employers — the driver profile fields described in Section 3.2, and your phone number once an employer completes a contact unlock for you;
  • Identity-verification providers — the NIN or license number you submit, solely to confirm that credential;
  • Paystack, our payment processor, to process unlock package and Premium subscription payments;
  • WhatsApp / messaging and email delivery providers, solely to deliver the job alerts and account emails described in Section 3.7;
  • Our own team, for example to review a submitted Spy Police credential;
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where required by law, or where a guarantor's details are relevant to a claim of theft, dishonesty, or default raised against a driver;
  • A successor, if Baseline Drivers is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we'll ensure your information continues to be protected under an equivalent policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share driver contact details with an employer who has not completed a contact unlock.

7 International data transfers

Our infrastructure providers may process and store data outside Nigeria, including in the European Union, as part of hosting the platform. Where information is transferred outside Nigeria, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to receive an adequate level of protection, consistent with the NDPA's cross-border transfer requirements.

8 Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so the platform can function (your profile stays searchable, your applications stay visible, your unlocked contacts stay accessible). If you delete your account, your profile, verification records, guarantor records, applications, and notification history are permanently removed from our active systems immediately; residual copies in routine backups are cleared in the normal course of our backup rotation.

9 Your rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

  • Access your data — download a full copy from your dashboard at any time, no request needed;
  • Correct inaccurate data — edit your profile directly, or contact us for anything you can't edit yourself;
  • Delete your data — permanently delete your account from your dashboard at any time;
  • Object to or withdraw consent for WhatsApp alerts — turn them off from your dashboard at any time;
  • Data portability — the same data export above is provided in a structured, machine-readable format;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe we have mishandled your information.

A guarantor whose information we hold, but who is not a platform account holder, can exercise these same rights by contacting us directly (Section 14) — we'll verify the request against the driver's record before acting on it.

10 Security

Access to your data is enforced at the database level, not just in the app — a driver or employer account can only read or write the rows it's entitled to, regardless of what the interface shows. Sensitive documents (Spy Police credentials, guarantor photographs) are held in access-restricted storage, separate from your public profile. Public endpoints are rate-limited to reduce automated abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we design deliberately around minimizing what any single account or component can see or do.

11 Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember your session — nothing else. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or ad-tracking scripts on the platform.

12 Children's privacy

Baseline Drivers is not directed at, and is not intended to be used by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform changes. We will update the effective date above when we do, and for a material change we'll make a reasonable effort to let active users know.

14 Contact us & complaints

To exercise any right described above, or ask us anything about this policy, contact us directly. If you're unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
